The Beauty of Marriage

I am loving these songs:
1. Another One Bites the Dust- Queen
2. The Freshman- The Verve Pipe
3. Give Me One Reason- Tracy Chapman

this
video,

these books:

And They Were Not Ashamed - Laura M. Brotherson
Behind Every Good Man - John Bytheway
The Miracle of Forgiveness - Spencer W. Kimball

Especially on the note of that video and the first book listed:
I love my husband.
I love the temple.
I love my eternal marriage.
I love the words of modern prophets.
I love the atonement.
I love Jesus Christ.

I had a very eventful Sunday, but in an inward way. I am so thankful for the opportunity to have my heart softened and refilled with appreciation for the amazing man that I am married to. The lesson in Relief Society yesterday on the life of Christ was absolutely beautiful. What a beautiful doctrine to know, that Christ chose, just as we choose things in our own lives, to atone for us.

I have been thinking deeply and often about what love is, which I think is why that video meant so much to me. I know what true love is, I have it in my life. I honestly get sick to my stomach thinking about the grasp lust has on the world, and what a horrible disgusting imitation it is of such an amazing, beautiful, spiritual thing.
It is so beautiful to me, the special love that exists between husband and wife when they are both trying their hardest to be the best they can be, for themselves and for each other.
The gospel is just so incredible! all of it! What beautiful truths we are blessed with!
I am so full of appreciation for the love of this gospel. That is what it is all about! LOVE. I have an awesome quote:
"From the moment of birth into mortality to the time we are married in the temple, everything we have in the whole gospel system is to prepare and qualify us to enter that holy order of matrimony which makes us husband and wife in this life and in the world to come.
Then from the moment we are sealed together by the power and authority of the holy priesthood-the power to bind on earth and have it sealed eternally in the heavens-from the moment everything connected with revealed religion is designed to help us keep the terms and conditions of our marriage covenant, so that this covenant will have efficacy, virtue, and force in the life to come. Thus celestial marriage is the crowning ordinance of the gospel, the crowning ordinance of the house of the Lord. Thus the family unit is the most important organization in time or in eternity."
Bruce R. McConkie

He just said the the ENTIRE GOSPEL is to help us make and keep our marriage covenant.
I think saying that Latter Day Saints view marriage differently from the world is the biggest understatement of the century!

I love you all! :]

  1. I just had my 5th wedding anniversary and have been thinking about this a lot. Especially with seeing family/friends struggle with infidelity and such things, it makes me so grateful for the man I married and the promises that we strive to keep to each other, and how that infiltrates everything we say and do every day.
